Members of EcoViva’s staff and board of directors are just beginning an east coast trip with our partners from El Salvador. The trip will highlight the expertise of local leaders from the Mangrove Association and La Coordinadora in climate change, community organizing, and disaster prevention.
At the first event “From El Salvador to New York: A North/South dialogue on community led approaches to climate change and disaster prevention” foundations, staff and trustees, individual donors, and community organizers from New York and El Salvador will dialogue “about the intersection of social movements, climate change, and disaster.” As stated in the announcement released by the North Star Fund,
“[Our partners in] El Salvador will share… their twenty years of lessons preventing and recovering from flooding associated with hurricanes that strike their region…This will be a dialogue between North and South about how to prevent, not just recover from damage following severe weather…
