Today is Nelson Mandela International Day! Since 2009, the United Nations and the Nelson Mandela Foundation have called on citizens of the world to commemorate Nelson Mandela’s birthday (July 18th) by devoting 67 minutes of time to helping others. 67 is the number of years Mandela served humanity in his public fight for justice, peace, and democracy.
Mandela, who died late last year at the age of 95, once said: “A good head and good heart are always a formidable combination. But when you add to that a literate tongue or pen, then you have something very special.”
