This past Friday, on April 10, I was instructed by a professor of mine to attend at least one event during my university’s annual Communication (COMS) Week. After ultimately deciding to listen in on the Media Studies Alumni Panel, one made up of five fairly-recent graduates who now hold professional positions in either broadcast or print journalism and radio, I thought that I would merely be given advice on how to best prepare myself for the slew real-world opportunities to come.
Little did I know, however, that one of those individuals had a much greater story.
