Being Your Child’s Best Advocate

I would do just about anything for my kids.

I think most of us are the same. We’d take bullets for them, be sick for them if it were possible, suffer any hurt or angst—it’s just the way of things when you’re a parent.

I would like to qualify that this does not mean that I wake up early every morning to make pancakes and bacon for my son, or even clean their bedrooms for my lovelies. I teach them how to do these things for themselves, which is eminently more desirable. But I digress.

Here’s my question: why, when as parents I think we would all agree that we would do just about anything at all within our power to protect and nurture our kids—why do we find it so difficult to advocate for them when it comes to school issues?
